The Traveling Swiss Says: Schweizerhof Flims is a beautiful family-owned hotel that has been a mainstay in Flims for more than 120 years. The hotel has a grand Belle Époque feel throughout, from the elegant lobby to the gorgeous dining room, while still feeling warm and welcoming. The historical rooms are charming and thoughtfully designed, and the location puts you close to some of Flims’ most beautiful natural sights, including Caumasee and the Ruinaulta, also known as the Swiss Grand Canyon. One of the highlights of the hotel is the Badehaus, an expansive 750-square-meter holistic mountain spa spread across three floors. The standout feature is the natural granite stone pool, which makes the entire wellness area feel especially unique. For dining, you can enjoy regionally sourced cuisine in the beautiful dining room or outside on the terrace. Families are also well considered here, with a lovely playroom located just off the grand lobby, which was such a nice touch when traveling with kids.

The Traveling Swiss Says: Welcome to the Glacier Hotel in Les Diablerets, easily accessible by train in just two hours from Geneva. Upon arriving at the hotel, you’ll immediately notice their prime location directly off-piste, with easy access to both downhill ski slopes and cross-country ski tracks. This four star superior property, has been recently reopened and renovated, and you can immediately see the modern and stylish upgrades .The updated guest rooms are thoughtfully designed, and have a chic, chalet style. For those traveling in larger groups, this hotel offers thoughtfully-designed larger rooms with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. You won’t have to go far for dining, as the on-site restaurant serves up a seasonal, rotating tasting menu nightly. If you’re traveling with younger children, there is an on-site kids’ club which will be monitored with trained staff during dinner times so the adults can enjoy the tasting menu fully while the little ones play. The Traveling Swiss Says: The Seehotel Wilerbad is a beautiful spa hotel located on the shores of Lake Sarnen, not far from Lucerne but with far fewer crowds. The property offers stunning lake views throughout, and the rooms have a unique design while still being well laid out for a variety of group sizes. The real highlight here is the spa, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, multiple saunas and hammams, and a large menu of bookable treatments. The overall design and spa ethos is inspired by Thailand. That influence continues into the on-site restaurant, where you can enjoy Thai-inspired cuisine on a lovely panoramic terrace overlooking the lake. Between the peaceful setting, extensive wellness area, and beautiful views, Seehotel Wilerbad feels like a true escape in the Swiss Alps.

The Traveling Swiss Says: Belvedere Locarno is a beautiful hotel located just above the city, offering panoramic views over Locarno and Lake Maggiore. One of its biggest highlights is the large indoor-outdoor pool, complete with a whirlpool and panoramic terrace, overlooking Locarno below. It one of the only hotels in Locarno with an on-site pool. The wellness area also featueress a lovely spa and an outdoor tennis court. The rooms are thoughtfully laid out, and quite spacious, including suite options that work well for larger parties. One of our favorite spots was the outdoor Ticinese grotto, where you can enjoy a light lunch or drinks while watching the funicular pass by on its way between Locarno and Madonna del Sasso. For dinner, the on-site restaurant La Fontana serves a variety of delicious regional dishes with a focus on local ingredients. There’s also a charming outdoor terrace, which is a lovely spot to enjoy dinner in the warmer months.
