The Traveling Swiss Says: Cresta Palace is a beautiful historic hotel located in Celerina, just five minutes from St. Moritz. Built in 1906 in the Art Nouveau style, the hotel is striking both inside and out, while the newly redesigned rooms feel modern, spacious, and luxurious. There are three on-site restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, with Ya Mama being our personal favorite, but all of them are worth a try. The Vita Pura Spa is another highlight, featuring a large indoor pool, an expansive wellness area, and a very well-equipped fitness center. Families are also well looked after here, with an on-site kids’ club offering activities like painting, bracelet making, and mini discos, plus staffed childcare during meal times for children aged three and up.

The hotel also offers easy access to the surrounding mountains, and guests staying two nights or more during the summer and fall can benefit from the Engadin guest card, which includes access to 10 mountain gondolas. Overall, Cresta Palace offers much of the chic atmosphere of St. Moritz, but with a warmer and more approachable feel.

The Traveling Swiss Says: Hotel Schweizerhof Lenzerheide is an amazing family hotel and part of the Swiss Family Hotels collection. The hotel offers three different room styles depending on what you’re looking for, from more budget-friendly options to nostalgic rooms and Alpine Chic rooms. We stayed in an Alpine Chic room and loved the cozy mountain feel, along with the thoughtful touches for children throughout the space, including little toys and a bathtub.

For families, this hotel is hard to beat. The on-site restaurant serves a rotating tasting menu, while kids can fully customize their own plate from a variety of options, which is perfect for picky eaters. There’s even a children’s dessert buffet. The hotel also has a kids’ club for children ages two and up, multiple playgrounds, a family pool, and plenty of scheduled activities throughout the day. Our kids especially loved feeding the rabbits each morning. And because a great family hotel should have something for the adults too, there’s also an excellent spa area and heated whirlpool where parents can enjoy a little downtime.
